The short answer: a CCT (tunable white) strip carries two whites — warm and cool — on separate channels. Blend them and one strip covers everything from candle-warm 2200K to daylight 6500K, changeable at any moment. With an analog controller running ESPHome, that blend shows up in Home Assistant as one light with a native colour-temperature slider. This guide covers what the numbers mean, why analog does white best, and the exact config.
Colour temperature describes where a white sits between amber-warm and blue-cool, in kelvin. Lower is warmer. In a real home:

| 3000–3500K | Soft white. Comfortable general living light. |
| 4000–4500K | Neutral. Kitchens, bathrooms, workbenches — alert but not clinical. |
| 5000–6500K | Daylight. Task work, true-colour checking, video sets. |
The trouble with fixed-white strips is that the right answer changes through the day. The light you want at 9 in the morning is not the light you want at 11 at night. Tunable white means you stop choosing.
A CCT strip alternates two LED types along its length — warm white (typically ~2200–2700K) and cool white (~6000–6500K) — wired as two separate channels sharing a positive. The controller dims each channel independently: full warm at bedtime, an even mix for neutral, full cool for task work. The blend happens in light, on the strip — smoothly, with no pixels or data lines involved.

Addressable (pixel) strips are wonderful for colour and motion — that's what QuinLED's Dig-Next line is for. But for white light you live and film under, analog wins on the things that matter:
The one thing to insist on is dimming quality: a slow PWM controller will make any strip band on camera and feel harsh at the low end. The An-Penta line dims at ~20 kHz with 12-bit resolution, so the blend stays smooth from full daylight to a barely-glowing 2200K.

A CCT zone needs two channels. One zone: the Mini (its two 5A channels are made for exactly this — and it still has three channels spare).
